HOTSPOT

HOTSPOT
Hotspot's exceptional temperament and modern appearance make him a striking presence in any arena. Under the saddle of Mathijs van Asten, he proves himself at the highest level with consistent performances in international Grand Prix classes. As a son of Hors La Loi II out of an exceptionally strong dam line, Hotspot combines power, technique, and performance genes. This combination makes him a valuable stud as well. He is registered as an approved stallion with the KWPN, AES & NRPS.

Hotspot distinguishes himself through an exceptionally strong and proven show jumping pedigree, in which multiple generations of top sport and influential sires come together. As a son of the approved stallion Hors la Loi II, who himself competed at the highest international level for many years, Hotspot combines performance genes with excellent rideability and temperament. On the dam's side, Hotspot carries the influential de la Pomme blood. His dam, Hermione de la Pomme (by Nabab de Reve), competed at 1.40m level herself and comes from a line known for its consistent production of top international show jumpers. His granddam, Sauterelle de la Pomme (by For Pleasure), also jumped internationally and produced several high-level horses. This laid the foundation for a dam line that is of great value not only for sport but also for breeding purposes. Going back even further, we find the legendary Narcotique de Muze II (by Darco), a Grand Prix mare ridden by Eric Lamaze, among others, who developed into a foundation dam of exceptional significance. This line traces back to Qerly Chin, one of the most influential mares in modern show jumping breeding, known for producing countless 1.60m horses and approved stallions. Additionally, Hotspot's pedigree contains an impressive accumulation of top sport genes through stallions such as Nabab de Rêve (World Championship medalist and sire of Vigo d’Arsouilles, among others) and For Pleasure (two-time Olympic champion).
5* GRAND PRIX VICTORY
Hotspot consistently achieves high placings at the top level under the saddle of Mathijs van Asten. His most recent top victory was in early 2026 in the United States. Here, he added his first 5-star Grand Prix win to his record at the Desert International Horse Park in Thermal.
2 APPROVED SONS
During the years that Hotspot was active as a breeding stallion (2016-2019), he served various mares. From this lineage came several top sport horses and even two approved stallions. These are AES-approved Highlight Z (sire Quinar) and LSS Tocassini, approved by the Irish Warmblood studbook (sire Cassini I).
OFFSPRING
More than 10 percent of Hotspot's registered offspring jumps at 1.40m level or higher in 2026. With outliers such as Fishersheros Z, who jumps up to 1.60m level with Michael Jung (GER), and Lot Spot, who recently finished clear at four-star 1.50m level with Chenghao Yu (CHN).
